Every year, LSC offers five $1000 scholarships to qualified MSA members throughout Texas.

Selections are made based on: academic excellence, leadership, community service, MSA involvement.


  • Student in a Texas based MSA

  • Any major

  • 2.5 GPA or above (verified through unofficial transcript)

  • 1 page resume

  • 1 letter of recommendation from a mentor/community leader

  • Short responses:

    • What is your role in the Muslim community?

    • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

    • Describe your financial situation/need.

Azrim Sofia Azmi

School: University of Texas at El Paso

Major: Math Education

Expected Graduation: December 2020

Azrin is a senior attending the University of Texas at El Paso. She was born in Malaysia and raised between sister cities, Cuidad Juárez and El Paso, divided by the United States and Mexico border. She is majoring in Math Education because she wants to give back to the community that has given her the opportunity for higher education and supported her throughout her educational career. She dedicates most of her free time to community service such as helping the homeless, orphans, seniors and also spends her time learning and teaching about Islam to the Muslim youth of El Paso and the reverts in Cuidad Juarez. She spends the rest of her time with herself and friends; enjoying nature, traveling, writing and watching Netflix. With her educational background and contacts, she is planning a project to help educate people in need around the city of El Paso and across the border in Cuidad Juarez
